How we research kitchen gear
We don't test products ourselves. We read the tests, reports and recalls, weigh them, and show you where every number comes from.
Kitchen Watcher is a research site. Before we recommend anything, we gather what is already known about it from sources we can name and link, compare it against the alternatives, and write up what the evidence says, including where it is thin or contradictory. We never present someone else's measurement as our own.
Where the evidence comes from
- Independent testing labs and publications that publish their own measurements, such as temperature accuracy, noise or capacity. We name the publication and link the page in the sentence where we use the number.
- Manufacturers. Specs, manuals and care instructions. We label these as manufacturer claims, because a spec sheet is a promise, not a measurement.
- Owners. Retailer reviews, forums and support threads, read for patterns that show up after weeks or months of use: coatings that peel, error codes, parts that fail.
- Safety records. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database, checked for every product before it appears on the site and again when a page is updated.
How we pick and rank
A product makes a best-of list when several independent sources rate it well and nothing in the safety or reliability record rules it out. Ranking weighs, in order: measured performance from independent tests, how consistent owner reports are over time, known failures and recalls, and price. Where the sources disagree, we say so rather than pick the convenient answer.
We earn a commission on some purchases. It never affects which products we cover or how they rank. See our affiliate disclosure.
What we don't do
- We don't claim hands-on experience we don't have.
- We don't publish invented or "estimated" measurements.
Prices
Prices change constantly, so any price on the site is shown with the date we saw it. We're building a price tracker that records prices daily, so you can see whether a sale is really a low.
Updates and corrections
Every page shows the date it was last updated. When a product is discontinued, recalled or replaced by a newer model, we revise the page. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we'll fix it and note the change.
